Latest Listen Ramble Pano v Pano

Here's a head to head battle pitting the new kid on the block (Photosynth) against the current reigning champion of Flash Pano presentation (krpano)...

First - the champion...

{jumi *4} <?php $panoxml='/images/panos/kh_05/kh_05.xml'; $panodiv='pano_v_pano'; $panoid='pano_v_pano'; ?> {/jumi}

Now for the would be contender...

Don't forget about trying them both out fullscreen.  In the top one (flash), right click... in the bottom (photosynth), click the fullscreen icon.

First impressions... krpano and flash is still the champion when it comes to resolution and smoothness.  But a nod will go to Photosynth for pure simplicity and speed in creating and posting online.  Of course... anybody doing panos regularly with krpano will have a workflow that utilizes some of the great tools available though krpano... and possibly negate the speed and ease.

Of course, we also have to give some consideration to the software used to create the panos in the first place.  The flash - krpano was created using Autopano... while the Photosynth pano relies on Microsoft's  ICE.  Autopano created a much better stiched image... but at least ICE is free.

So, what do you think?

(Disclosure - I'm obviously a big fan of krpano... but I am intrigued by the potential reach of Photosynth panos and their future inclusion to Bing maps, but more on that at a later time)
