I still remember the world atlas that my parents had when I was a kid.  It wasn't the typical atlas with normal maps of places... it was filled with high resolution images from space.

I could sit for hours and just look at all of the places around the world and try to imagine what they were like.  Since we lived on the water, I would trace the routes I could take from the back yard out to wherever there was water access.  Looking back, it's no surprise that I still carry on with this interest in maps and exploring places.

Immersive Media has picked up some great exposure with their full 360 video's of areas around Haiti.  The "video" format allows a large area to be covered as well as letting people pause and explore any particular section.  It really is a stunning example of how this medium can be put to use.

And to top it all off... you can embed the videos in your own site... see below.

If I was a business that wanted people to come over to my physical location and see what is going on... I would get over to Zvents now and get some of my event information listed.

Why??

Because MS's Bing Maps newest app that shows local events pulls it's information from Zvents.

While I was doing this, I'd go ahead and make a Photosynth of my place and get it listed as well...

The new Bing Maps is creating so many different touch points to businesses... it's going to be interesting.

It's hard to believe that it took me so long to go and look at Animoto.  They've been running ads in the photography magazines and I kept telling myself that I'd go and learn more about it.

I finally did...
