Very near where the Wright Brothers made their first powered flights there is a large "dune" that served as their test area with several iterations of gliders...

It's not much of a sand dune now... since it's been covered with grass in order to stabilize the land and keep it from moving any further... and to provide a foundation for this very impressive monument.
